It turns around around and spring creek pass no earlier than 12:30 (be at Spring Creek pass by 12:30pm to insure you do not miss it).

here's the official word on trails, as of yesterday (per USFS people on Facebook): "there are no closures affecting the CT.  The CDT remains closed from Weminuche Pass to Ellwood Pass."  Advice is for NOBO CDTers to detour to Durango and get back on the Colorado Trail at Molas Pass, then reconnect with CDT in 14.4 miles.  here's a bit more from the USFS personnel on the Facebook CDT page: "I would be surprised if the CDT north of Wolf Creek is reopened this year.  These large backcountry fires are usually put out by Monsoon rains and snow..."  Having said that, the forecast is for rain in LC for the next seven days (!!!) - so perhaps the Monsoon rains will help.
Thanks for the info Chris.

Fall is coming

As the summer draws near to an end, we are grateful for a wonderful opening season. We were privileged to have had so many happy campers, hikers, and runners stay with us. They each left us with a positive and encouraging note about our new business.
Now, as the leaves begin to turn, and bears come into town looking for food, we are excited about the upcoming wine and music festival on september 15th (check out and the arrival of the southbound Continental Divide Trail hikers. Let the Fall hiking begin!
